A look into the Infrastructure themes and trends during Q2 2020

In Q2 we have continued to see the fallout from the COVID crisis resulting in slightly less hiring activity than in the same period last year.  However, since the beginning of June there has been a real sense of optimism in the market and more funds are beginning to think about hiring.  There is a belief that there will be quite a lot of opportunity given the current environment therefore, firms want to be well equipped to take advantage when the time comes.

Overall, our clients have found that the infrastructure investment industry seems to be holding up well so far.  The assets most affected are those that are aggressively financed or that are on the interface between private equity and infrastructure investment, which are much more subject to market movements and perhaps have been categorised as infrastructure despite not having all the true characteristics.
