H1 2024 has been challenging. There is political unrest across the globe, continued uneven economic growth in China due, in part, to weak domestic demand, and political change across Europe, the US, and the UK, not to mention uncertain economic data and stubbornly high interest rates. How management boards respond to these macroeconomic challenges will help shape the leaders and businesses of the future, and the emerging skills and traits gaps of those boards must be understood and addressed.
That’s why this report looked at companies listed on the NASDAQ and FTSE 350 indices to understand the most dynamic companies in the UK and US financial services, insurance, real estate, technology, and energy sectors. For this report, we analysed 4,411 companies and examined their board compositions. In H1 2024, we found 504 board changes at 51 of those companies. This report analyses those moves to discover what they reveal about how boards responded to the economic challenges of H1 2024.
