Case Study: Front to back re-platforming


Our client was a large UK insurance retailer, offering a range of insurance products from a panel of UK insurers covering car, bike, home and commercial insurance.



  • Regulatory pressures meant the business needed to re-platform.
  • The new system needed to be selected, implemented and operational within very tight  timeframes.



  • We swiftly identified a Transformation Director (Partner) and Head of Technology to deliver a one month deep-dive diagnostic at an agreed price. Once the  proposal had been agreed and  budgets signed off, the Partner was asked to lead the re-platforming programme.
  • A bespoke team was needed with the relevant sector and systems specialism. A team of eight change consultants were selected and on-boarded within weeks.
  • Ongoing support from the Engagement Manager ensured continuity within the team and  that all consultants remained for the required tenure, avoiding the delays and potential costs associated with replacements.



  • Selected, negotiated commercial terms for, contracted and completed implementation of a new IT broking platform to replace all existing retail business  software in eight months, against  a fixed FCA-mandated deadline.  Migrated 1.5m customers at renewal to new products.
  • Reduced like-for-like cost of IT by 50% over 18 months through renegotiation of commercial contracts, department restructure and selective service outsourcing.
  • Built a continuous improvement function to embed customer centricity, introduce Lean and  Agile methods and completed a review and enhancement of  customer journey and back office processes.
