Position Profile: Technical Lead



TALNT is being developed and incubated by the Sheffield Haworth Group, an industry-leading consultancy in people and transformational change with a global presence – and has an ambitious vision to be the ‘go to’ global platform for accurate and transparent data for workforce research and people analytics.

TALNT is an online platform for providing analytics, insights and knowledge on people moves to professionals within an industry to help them find solutions and make a difference in their markets.

In June 2020, TALNT was successfully launched in beta test and is now rapidly scaling its users. Given the success of version 1, TALNT is now developing additional features and functionality to deliver increased value to its growing membership.       

To accelerate the growth of the business, TALNT is seeking to hire a hands-on full stack developer to execute a product roadmap and act as a technical lead to an engineering and data science team that the successful candidate will build out over the next 12-18 months.

Your responsibilities

  • Oversee the transition of the codebase from an external development agency that has developed a successful (and well documented) MVP.
  • To take ownership of technical architecture and strategy to meet business objectives.
  • To lead and project manage a new technical team that will be recruited (and also lead on the recruitment of team members).
  • Develop new features with clean, maintainable and well documented code.
  • To act as the primary point of contact for technical matters with sales and operational team members.


What we’re looking for in candidates:

  • Extensive understanding and experience with:
    • PHP (Laraval)
    • React, Vue, Node.js
    • AWS Infrastructure products.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset and a desire to spend time with users and other stakeholders to understand their product need.
  • Comfortable with rapid prototyping to validate early hypotheses on new features and able to adapt technical roadmaps quickly in response to user feedback.
  • Flexibility to work onsite at our offices in London at least 3 to 4 times a month (when safe and practical to do so again).
  • Experience hiring and managing junior and mid-level developers.


Additionally, it would be highly preferred for a candidate to have experience:

  • Building products with data science and machine learning dependencies
  • Working in a startup or a new venture within an established company
