Overview of the Role

Our associates have in-depth experience in financial markets research and are constantly networking with market professionals to build knowledge on candidate pools, market & product trends, diversity statistics, migration patterns, headcount and compensation.  In addition to providing support in their own region, associates will also provide expertise to counterparts in other offices on cross border assignments where there is a requirement to find candidates in several geographical regions.

 

At Sheffield Haworth associates are fully involved in the search process from the inception of an assignment to completion.  Where possible, Associates will attend the initial briefing through to mapping and networking with the universe of candidates, and finally supporting the consultant in presenting the shortlist of candidates to the client. This close working relationship enables Associates to fully understand the culture of the client organization, the requirements for each project and to help tailor the research process to the client.

 

Our strong research capability has enabled Sheffield Haworth to consistently deliver a large number of complex assignments for our clients globally and enabled us to build a considerable track record of achievement over 20 years.

 

This role will support both the senior consultants in this team across New York and London, with the direct focus on U.S. mandates.

 

Overview of the Technology practice at Sheffield Haworth

The Technology team at Sheffield Haworth are focused on Global Strategic hires at C-Suite and Senior mandate level, typically focused on CTO/CIO/CDO/Senior MD hires. The team regularly undertakes Strategic assignments involving multiple hires and team build-outs. They rank amongst our most profitable business franchises.

 

Operating on a Global basis, they provide client solutions in the fields of FinTech, Data, Analytics, Cyber security, Quantitative & Engineering architecture; predominantly for tier one banking clients and hedge funds. This constantly evolving sector brings the team into regular interaction with the leading experts in their fields across the broad spectrum of Technology.

 

The U.S. sits at the forefront of our strategy for growth and expansion. The Technology team undertake the majority of their work within the U.S and this hire will assist in underpinning the expansion of those capabilities.

 

Key Components to the Role

Knowledge Management

  • Data input of executive moves and relevant press articles from the internet and publications.
  • Name Gathering. Utilising the company database and other desk analysis tools, e.g. Internet, Bloomberg, FINRA, and LinkedIn to generate names for assignment purposes across different product areas.
  • Writing full profiles on names gathered from the internet. This information can be found on LinkedIn, press articles, conference bios, website bios, and the company database Invenias.
  • Creating organizational charts and diagrams.
  • Updating organizational charts by cross checking on Bloomberg and the FINRA. Reflecting any job history changes on the company database.
  • Research the relevant product areas keeping abreast of new developments, changes to company structures, executive moves, key themes etc.

 

Data Entry & Data Management

  • Work with Consultants to enter candidate and company related information on Invenias. This could take the form of cross checking information currently held on the database, or adding new entries as a result of internet research.
  • Adding legacy research reports to the company database.
  • Ensure that all information gathered is entered on to the database; that all new and updated entries follow the company minimum requirements, are correctly skill coded and that contact logs reflect contact made.
  • Ensures that all data is saved efficiently and accessibly.

 

Telephone Work

  • Basic telephone work by way of name verifying with switchboards.
  • Calling warm contacts, via the technology team’s network as well as those on the company database, to update their records and career information.
  • Extensive calling in connection with a mapping a product area, including cold calling.

 

Assignment Work / Project Work

  • Work proactively with Consultants to source information for client pitches. This may include market/product analysis information, competitor structures, organisational charts, salary/benefits information and any other information to suit the client meeting. 
  • Mapping the ‘universe’ of a product area for marketing purposes.
  • Formulation of a research strategy to meet client requirements, including specifying target companies and target universe.
  • Advanced telephone work. Network extensively via the telephone with candidates and sources.  Map the universe via sourcing and cold calling and approach the candidate pool via the telephone and present opportunities effectively on behalf of clients.  
  • Take ownership of the research report: ensure that all names on the list have been checked for spelling and their company is accurate. Ensure all biographical information/profile information on candidates is accurate.
  • Attend candidate meetings with Consultants and write up notes.
  • Write-up client facing profiles following interviews that provide clients the information to assess their suitability for the role.

 

Attributes

  • Excellent data mining skills / desk-based research skills.
  • Ability to archive and assimilate information.
  • Confident phone manner and willingness to make extensive contact with people via the telephone, including making cold calls.
  • Strong writing skills and attention to detail.
  • Able to adapt to IT system quickly and databases. Ideally a good working knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • High energy and work ethic, team player.
  • An interest in the financial markets and executive search.

 

Salary and Benefits

  • This is a permanent full-time position.
  • Salary dependent on skill/ experience.
  • Office hours are 8.30am to 5.30pm.
