Fundraising

Sheffield Haworth’s fundraising program aims to support smaller charities that will benefit directly from our financial support and partnership. We place importance on the exchange of knowledge that can really make a difference, in addition to teamwork and personal challenges. These shared experiences form a strong cultural backbone, which is reflected both professionally and in the wider community, helping us to build long term relationships and understand the needs of others.

Best Beginnings

Best Beginnings focuses on giving every child the best start possible in life, from preconception to the age of two. Best Beginnings originated to promote the importance of breastfeeding, its health benefits and its role in reducing health inequalities; since then, it has launched the Small Wonders project for sick and premature babies and the Preparing for Parenthood project, both of which aim to reduce the health gap that exists for so many young children in the UK.

Sheffield Haworth has chosen to support Best Beginnings in 2013 as part of a year focusing on Children in our fundraising efforts.

Kabanana Care Zambia Trust

Kabanana Care Zambia Trust aim to relieve poverty, hardship and distress amongst the orphaned children and young adults living in desperately poor community called Kabanana.  There are currently 90 children registered to the Kabanana Trust.  The charity staff and volunteers work to relieve sickness and to promote good health, particularly amongst those who are orphaned or chronically sick as a result of HIV/AIDS and /or TB.

Their target this year is to raise £8000 to help fund the building of an additional room to school the children in, and build an additional water hole.

Sheffield Haworth has chosen to support the Kabanana Care Zambia Trust as part of our over seas fundraising efforts for 2013.

The SMA Trust

Spinal Muscular Atrophy is a devastating, genetic disease and is currently the leading genetic killer of infants. The SMA Trust is the only UK charity dedicated solely to funding research into this debilitating condition. Scientists are making significant progress in finding a cure and by continuing to raise funds, Sheffield Haworth can contribute to ongoing research.

In September 2011 thirteen intrepid Sheffield Haworth employees took on the challenge of cycling from London to Paris in three days. Setting off from the Sheffield Haworth London office on Thursday 8th September they arrived in Paris on Saturday 10th. This was a huge challenge covering over 90 miles each day which involved many painful hours in the saddle!

On October 21, 2011 employees of Sheffield Haworth’s New York office hosted “A New York Minute City Challenge” – a fast-paced and interactive scavenger hunt, in which teams roamed the streets of Manhattan, solving clues and earning points through creative photos.
